Sunrise on a cloudy morning. This sky appeared for about five minutes and then was gone, we just were looking at the right time. Looking east along side Lake Richmond / Lake Street.

The end of the south drain – west. Looking west from a bridge over the south drain as it enters Lake Richmond. Below is looking east. Until the south drain fills with winter we will leave it there, onto more photographs of the far south drain.

Below is a bonus photograph of Lake Richmond looking north from the south eastern shore.

A couple of captured canine adventurers!

These guys were on the lam seen crossing Safety Bay Road by Lake Street, and were ‘detained’ before cross Lake Street. A passing motorist stopped to assist, and was able to lend us tie down straps which we used as leads.

Unfortunately although these guys had their harnsses on, they didn’t have name / contact tags [the visible green tag is the harness product tag]. A couple of very friendly and very well behaved dogs it has to be said, rolled over for tummy rubs etc while the leads were attached and tags were checked for, and sat when requested. They were damp, so it’s suspected they had been for a swim in the drain leading from Lake Richmond to the coast.

Not having tags, there was little choice but to take them home and call the City of Rockingham Ranger / Animal Control. They walked the about 1km home very well on the leads without pulling. Once home they were provided a welcome drink, and then they happily laid down and napped for the 2 hours before the Ranger came to collect them. The smaller model was regularly using the larger as a pillow / matress so they are good friends!

The Ranger mentioned he thought he had seen them before, so it might not have been their first adventure. For such well mannered dogs it’s a shame they weren’t tagged – the ‘get out of jail’ fee would been greater than the cost of tags 🙄 . The good news is that they never appeared on the Animal Control website so it’s assumed they found their way home.

Bismark Reserve southern section, from the west looking east with the Anchorage Village shops top right. The treeline at the top / left marks the southern drain into Lake Richmond, with below showing the drain looking west after it goes under a foot bridge. The drain extends above ground (under roads) east until the Read Street / Rockingham City Shopping Centre, which we might track in the future.
