It’s mid-summer and Lake Richmond water levels are down, so Bugs thought we should spend a few days showing the low level so the increases after winter rains can be appreciated.
This is the drain leaving the lake at the north western corner heading off towards Point Peron just before it goes it goes under Safety Bay Road, the pipe that crosses is a great level indicator.
There has been no rain recorded at the nearby Garden Island BOM site since November 2025.
BOM = Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology. The Garden Island observation station is https://www.bom.gov.au/climate/dwo/IDCJDW6046.latest.shtml

This is why working with an ‘A’ lister like Bugs is so great. When a way of tracking the two Birds Nest Ferns which are to be rotated inside and outside was discussed, Bugs went straight to his Warner Bros. contacts and came up with a celebrity option – the young wizards Harry Potter and Ron Weasley!

Harry and Ron will stay with their ferns as they are rotated, and Bugs will bring updates on the ferns progress as the year progresses. Harry and his fern will start indoors. Ron and his fern are outside on the veranda.

Another new plant, a Syngonium, placed today in a cheap funky ‘donut’ vase. The plant was purchased and placed into water 03Jan26, and is enjoying having wet feet.

Added bonus of a reflection of the light array 🙄
